Basic Care and Maintenance Tips for Underwater Cameras

[ad_1]

For those who have ever gone diving or even swimming underwater, sure you have seen a beautiful scenery underwater that you simply just want to capture in a picture. Some few years back, the beauty of the world underwater can only be appreciated by diving in and looking at it yourself, but now with the improvement of technology you can now capture it just as you would capture a beautiful landscape.

The invention of underwater cameras has opened the eyes of the people to the immense beauty of the world underwater. With this gadget, it is now possible to share with other the view you have seen underwater. However, because the conditions underwater is very different from the conditions on land it is not a wonder why underwater cameras require more serious maintenance if you want them to last longer. Here are some of the most important care and maintenance tips you can do to keep your underwater cameras working for a longer period of time.

Utmost care should be practiced when handling your underwater camera. When using it for a dive, try not to jump into the water with the camera on your hand. The sudden splash that is caused by the water can push water through the O rings and cause damage. Instead of jumping in with the camera, have someone pass it over once you are on the water. It is also advisable that you make sure that there are no leaks on your camera housing before you go into the water. Any small leaks in your housing or a tiny smash on your lens can instantly ruin your camera and lens.

Make it a habit to always rinse your camera using freshwater after a dive. It is best to leave it soaked in lukewarm water for a couple of hours; make sure that the camera is closed and turn the controls ever so often. By doing this, you are dissolving the salt crystals which can cause damage to your camera once they dry up. After soaking it, make sure that the camera is well discharged before attempting to open it. And open it in a way wherein the water that could come in will not fall directly to the camera.

Once the camera is all discharged up, you can now check for the O rings. The O rings are an important part of your underwater camera for they help to keep the water out. Always check the O rings for any sand, dirt, and the like for they can let water pass through and destroy your camera. If you notice that the rings are beginning to crack, have them replaced as soon as possible. Part of proper maintenance for an underwater camera is to have it serviced by a reputable and qualified technician; This is so that they can also check the O rings that can not be checked by the user.

Having an underwater camera can be one of the most important gadgets that you can have especially if you're a big fan of the world underwater. There is truly so much beauty beneath the calm blue waters of the sea that it describes to be captured and shared with others who are not able to see it for themselves. This gadget can provide you great underwater pictures if you know how to care for them properly.
